After months of anticipation, Original Joe’s opened its newest location in Walnut Creek on Thursday, August 14 at 1300 S Main St., marking the beloved restaurant’s first-ever expansion into the East Bay in its nearly 90-year history. The new spot, located in front of Macy’s at Broadway Plaza, features a newly added second floor and takes over the former Stanford’s Restaurant and Bar space. The grand opening, which includes a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Mayor Cindy Darling, has been commemorated by the city declaring August 14 as "Original Joe’s Day." Known for its deep roots in San Francisco’s dining scene since 1937, Original Joe’s is owned by the Duggan family and has been featured in Bon Appétit Magazine.
